We are selecting and recruiting candidates every two weeks. Apply today.

We have five different roles and need talented children’s social care professionals with varying levels of experience to fill them. Take a look at our new structure.

We’ll expect a lot from you, but we’ll make sure you’re well rewarded.

You’ll enjoy excellent personalised training and development, including management skills, mentoring and coaching, quality reflective supervision, and access to a range of online journals and development resources. We also offer a social worker progression scheme and good professional and managerial career prospects including access to the Firstline leadership development programme for Team Managers. With a health and wellbeing strategy to help you handle the stresses of your job, we’re working hard to ensure you have all the support you need. You’ll also receive training on a core set of vision and values-aligned tools, models and theories introduced by our Director of Children’s Social Care (our six preferred methods).

You can look forward to a 35-hour week, flexible working to meet your personal commitments, a competitive pay package and generous annual leave. We also offer season ticket loans, bike loans, and for qualifying roles, a car allowance and parking permits. There are also excellent transport links to and from our offices in Brixton (Transport for London, Zone 2), with Waterloo, Victoria, and London Bridge stations less than 15 minutes away.

Most of all, you will be able to influence the future of our service. Additional admin support and reduced bureaucracy will give you more time for direct work with children and families to help improve their lives. Not only will you receive regular updates on our improvement activities at staff engagement events and via a dedicated intranet site, you’ll have every opportunity to inspire the changes that will move our transformational work forward. We’ll also ask you to share your insights on how the service is responding to change, and to capture any issues that that you feel could impede progress through regular forums.

You really will be an inspirational presence.

Our future will be very much in your hands. We’ll need you to drive tangible improvements and to make sure all of our Social Workers are empowered to carry out meaningful social work that’s built around the families they work with. All Service Managers have huge scope to make an impact. The difference with us is that you’ll go beyond changing lives – you’ll inspire a transformation of our service by championing best practice and providing personalised support. To join us, you’ll need a recognised social work qualification, HCPC registration and management experience gained in another children’s social care setting. You should be as analytical as you are personable – we’re looking for someone who can turn data into insight; someone who can address issues quickly, and prevent them from arising.

We have 8 service manager and 2 delivery lead roles across the board of Children’s Social Care; looked after children, fostering and adoption, referral and assessment (2), children with disabilities, family support & child protection, and quality assurance (2), and early help delivery leads (2). Each has a unique professional nuance but the aim is for universal quality management.

For us, improvement isn’t just about the bigger picture. It’s also about delivering high quality care, support and guidance, on the ground day in and day out. You’ll need to make sure we have Social Work practice of the highest calibre, and that each Social Worker is empowered to get the best outcomes for children, young people and their families. You'll have a distinct and significant role in the transformation of our service. HCPC-registered with a recognised social work qualification and supervisory experience gained in a children’s social care setting, you could be an experienced Social Worker looking for an excellent development opportunity or a talented Practitioner Manager ready for a new challenge. A creative problem solver, your can-do approach and commitment to quality will inspire your team to achieve excellence.

We have 30+ team manager roles across the board of Children’s Social Care; looked after children, fostering and adoption, referral and assessment, children with disabilities, family support & child protection, and quality assurance. Each has a unique professional nuance but the aim is for universal quality management. See job description for Team Managers to find out more.

This is a brand new role and a fantastic opportunity for you to shape and inspire our service and influence our future – not least because you could be deployed to any part of Children’s Social Care. You won’t have your own caseload. Instead, you’ll be getting the best out of our less experienced Social Workers or providing hands-on support for particularly complex cases. Put simply, this is your chance to turn your expertise into positive outcomes for all. We’re looking for someone with leadership qualities and a commitment to best practice – perhaps you’re an experienced Social Worker ready to take the next step up or a Practitioner Manager keen to take on a new and more meaningful challenge. Either way, you should be HCPC-registered with a recognised qualification in social care and a flair for getting the best out of others.

A bold, ambitious vision is only the starting point for transformation. To see real, measurable change, we need to scrutinise our efforts and push for better at every level. The journey’s already begun and we’ve made plenty of progress. Now we need some specialists to take our agenda forward.

As a highly skilled and experienced professional, you’ll have a unique post – not managing staff or budgets, but promoting and upholding the highest standards of practice. You’ll be the driving force behind new ways of working, challenging our people to meet the benchmarks that we’ve set them. Independence from line management is part of the role. You must believe in improvement and hold others to account. For that, you need to be an expert in your field: a leader with the credibility to guide and make decisions.
